Mau P makes his Defected Records debut with ‘Merther’

In his juvenile career, Mau P has successfully delivered hits on labels such as Black Book Records, Experts Only, and Afterlife. Now, he aims to do the same on Defected Records with his latest club banger Merther.

Dutch DJ and producer Mau P, formerly known as Maurice West, debuted on the legendary Defected Records with another club destroyer titled Merther. In such a short time since his fresh new chapter, he has produced a staggering amount of club hits, including Drugs From AmsterdamMetro, and much more. Not only solo releases, but Mau P has also delivered remixes for legendary names such as Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris.

Merther samples one of the best reggae tracks of all time, World A Music by iNi Kamoze. Most recently, Martin Ikin has also sampled the iconic track in one of his recent releases In The Streets. When asked about MertherMau P showed gratitude to his fans and DJs for supporting it:

“I’m so stoked to finally release “Merther” after testing it on the road for a long time. It’s sick that I get to put this out with the legendary sample from iNi Kamoze’s “World A Music“. I didn’t think this would be remotely possible a few years ago, but here we are. My fans have also been asking for this one nonstop so I’m happy they don’t have to keep listening to ripped versions online and can finally get the full finished version.”

He also mentioned that the track has been heavily supported by Solomun and Michael Bibi, 2 artists Mau P admires heavily. It’s inevitable that it will get played by many many more in the coming weeks and months.

Like Drugs From Amsterdam dominated the Amsterdam Dance Event in 2022 and Metro in 2023, the same could be said for Merther at this year’s event. You can show your support by listening on your favorite streaming platform or as always, down below.
